This BC Cleantech Platform is Quietly Powering Canada’s Rise as an Energy Superpower

With the Canadian federal election now in the rearview mirror, and much of the world debates how to transition to cleaner energy, at VoltSafe Inc., we have already built the technology to finish the job – and it’s attracting serious attention at home and abroad.

VoltSafe is quietly proving that Canada’s strength isn’t just in natural resources, it’s in smart, scalable solutions that connect energy safely, intelligently, and globally. With patents procured around the world, VoltSafe is rewriting the rules of electrification from the ground up – winning awards and earning industry related accolades while we do it.

Redefining How Clean Energy Gets Delivered

The clean energy transition isn’t just about how we generate power,  it’s about how we connect to and manage it. VoltSafe has developed the world’s first smart, prongless, high-power electrical connector: a patented magnetic interface that makes electricity safer, smarter, and touch-safe, with embedded intelligence that knows exactly when, how, and to whom to deliver power.

“Canada talks a lot about our energy potential, but potential only becomes leadership when we start building. VoltSafe is creating the connective tissue of a net-zero world, and we’re building it right here, on Canada’s West Coast.”
– Trevor Burgess, Co-Founder & CEO.

VoltSafe’s technology is more than just a better plug, it’s a platform. It merges hardware and intelligent software to power everything from electric vehicles and boats to smart cities, industrial automation, and emergency services. And it’s already in demand.

Real Demand. Real Impact.

After leaping over the biggest hurdle of safety certification, VoltSafe has matured its flagship technology, built a tremendous global IP moat, and has won 9 industry-related awards for its innovation. VoltSafe has received plenty of backing through multiple grants, including securing one of its most prominent government initiatives – a $550,000 innovation contract with the Government of Canada through Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) and Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC). The initiative supports the development of a 125VAC/15A smart connector to serve critical sectors like emergency response, fleets, hospitals, marine, rapid charging infrastructure, and even autonomous vehicles.

This is more than a test project, it has the potential to be part of Canada’s cleantech deployment strategy.

At the same time, VoltSafe is actively validating both the commercial readiness and global relevance of its Canadian-born technology.

“International demand proves that our platform isn’t just ready, it’s needed,” said Burgess. “It confirms that Canada is capable of exporting not just resources, but world-first technology that redefines how energy gets delivered.”

Canada’s Moment to Lead the Charge

As Canadian leaders speak more boldly about becoming an energy superpower, VoltSafe is quietly building the foundation to make that vision real. This isn’t a story of foreign acquisition or talent flight. It’s a story of Canadian IP, built and commercialized at home, and now scaling worldwide.

“We’ve seen the stats: electrification is surging. But you can’t connect 21st-century power with 20th-century infrastructure,” Burgess added. “We’ve reimagined the outlet for an electrified world, and this is just the beginning.”

With a newly granted Canadian patent, VoltSafe is the first-and-only company in the world to successfully certify and commercialize high power plugs with exposed contacts. With strong federal support, and commercial traction in global markets, VoltSafe is leading where it counts – in innovation, implementation, and impact.

And while some still search for the next big thing in clean energy, VoltSafe is already holding the plug.
