VoltSafe’s Year In Review: From Proven Technology to Accelerating Momentum

Market traction, strategic validation, and global IP expansion set the stage for a breakout 2026.

As we reflect on the past year, one thing was made perfectly clear: the energy around VoltSafe has never been stronger. Building on the breakout momentum of 2024, this year marked a transition from promise to proof and from bold vision to real-world deployment. Across marinas, ports, patent offices, and global stages, VoltSafe technology moved decisively from what’s next to what’s now.

Here’s a look back at the key milestones, partnerships, and progress that defined a pivotal year for our company, our investors, and the future of safe, intelligent (and magnetic) high power.

Kicking Off the Year on the Global Marine Stage

We began 2025 at one of the most influential marine industry events in North America: the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) Conference & Expo in Fort Lauderdale.

For VoltSafe, industry trade shows aren’t just about visibility, they’re about validation. Seeing marina owners, dock builders, port operators, and regulators experience our prongless shore power system firsthand continues to be one of the most powerful catalysts for adoption. The conversations we started in Fort Lauderdale carried forward throughout the year and set the tone for what followed.

📍 We’ll be returning to AMI in Daytona this coming February 2 – 4, 2026 to reconnect with an industry that’s clearly ready for change. Visit VoltSafe at Booth #222 during the event.

Strategic Partnerships: Building What’s Next

From a business development perspective, 2025 was defined by alignment with partners who share our ambition.

Early in the year, VoltSafe signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mostar Labs to co-develop revolutionary mobile charging infrastructure for the next wave of electrified marine, defence, and water-based transportation systems.

This collaboration expands VoltSafe’s reach well beyond traditional docks, opening new pathways in defence, mobility, and mission-critical environments where safety, reliability, and intelligence are non-negotiable.

Expanding the IP Fortress Globally

Strengthening VoltSafe’s already formidable intellectual property moat was another major theme of 2025.

European Patent Office (EPO)

VoltSafe secured a foundational patent from the European Patent Office for our flagship prongless power connector technology, the core innovation behind our breakthrough approach to safe, smart electrical power.

This decision extends VoltSafe’s protection into almost 40 European countries, building on prior IP wins in the United States, China, Korea, and other key global jurisdictions. Beyond protection, this milestone unlocks strategic licensing opportunities with major industrial, marine, defence, and consumer electronics players worldwide.

Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO)

In addition, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office formally issued a patent covering VoltSafe’s core “Electrical Fingerprint” technology. This Canadian grant further reinforces our philosophy of partnering with incumbents through licensing and embedded integrations, rather than locking them out of disruptive innovation.

Together, these patents significantly expand VoltSafe’s global IP footprint and solidify ownership of a critical enabling technology designed for broad adoption.

From Innovation to Installation: Real-World Deployments

Royal Vancouver Yacht Club’s Wigwam Inn

In June, the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club launched our first large-scale deployment of VoltSafe’s shore power system at its iconic Wigwam Inn location. This milestone is a major step forward in proving that VoltSafe’s technology isn’t just safer and smarter, but that it’s fully ready for operational marina environments. Working with RVYC has fostered a tremendous learning platform for VoltSafe to perfect the product and overall system; they are great partners and forward-thinking marina experts who manage multiple sought-after locations. This important installation marks the largest full-scale pre-commercial deployment of VoltSafe’s Marina Shore Power solution to date and sets the stage for incredible growth.

Partnering with the Port of San Diego: A Defining Milestone

August delivered one of the most significant announcements in VoltSafe’s history. VoltSafe was selected to join The Port of San Diego’s Blue Economy Incubator, receiving $250,000 USD to support an extensive pilot program in one of the world’s most important marina markets – one of the most forward-thinking ports in North America.

Beyond funding, the Port is providing VoltSafe with substantial business development support, marketing, and media visibility, accelerating our path to scale in the U.S. market.

That momentum translated quickly into action. In late November, VoltSafe completed the first pilot installation at Sun Harbor Marina, moving from concept to operational reality in just a matter of months. With the system now live, VoltSafe technology is already delivering real-world impact with more marinas expected to sign on this spring.

Education, Community, and Industry Engagement

Invitations to panels and speaking engagements are a key priority for VoltSafe as each one establishes new core relationships and introduces us to decision makers. Throughout 2025, VoltSafe’s leadership was active across relevant industry forums including:

  • Everything Electric Vancouver – VoltSafe CEO & Co-Founder, Trevor Burgess was on an engaged panel exploring the future of electrification infrastructure
  • Pacific Coast Congress of Harbormasters & Marina Managers (Seaside, OR) – Trevor and VoltSafe CTO, Sanad Aridah, shared VoltSafe’s shore power benefits
  • Washington Public Ports Association Annual Conference – Trevor addressed 75 ports on “Electric Opportunities: Marina Shore Power’s Future”
  • TMA BlueTech Month: Ocean Enterprise Reimagined (with the Port of San Diego) – Trevor & Sanad were invited by the Port of San Diego to showcase VoltSafe Tech
  • IBEX 2025: North America’s premier marine technology event
  • The DOCKS Expo, Nashville TN: Trevor & Sanad delivered an educational session that covered “Marina Electrical Design: Navigating NEC 555 and NFPA 303” with Chris Dolan of Marina Electrical Equipment.

Invitations to speak at such important events not only showcase VoltSafe Technology in front of engaged audiences, they also underpin VoltSafe as a trusted voice at the core of electrification of everything.

In the fall, VoltSafe also became a proud member of Boating Ontario and attended BOATS  (Boating Ontario Annual Trade Show) at Blue Mountain Resort. This Conference is the signature event for the Boating Ontario’s members with roughly 350 in attendance annually. VoltSafe’s new membership into this association helps build and foster key relationships across the province in a very large and affluent marina market.

Education and conferences remain core to VoltSafe’s mission. VoltSafe is committed to helping marina operators, designers, and regulators navigate evolving standards safely and confidently creating a safer, smarter and more profitable marina environment.

VoltSafe in the News: Increased Visibility & Coverage

From major marine trade publications to NBC and KUSI/FOX News in San Diego, VoltSafe was featured across some of the biggest news outlets on dozens of occasions in 2025.

This important coverage continues to reinforce a key message: VoltSafe isn’t just another electrical company or smart marina add-on. As highlighted in a recent Port Strategy feature, VoltSafe represents a fully integrated future where electrical hardware and software are designed together from the ground up making it safer and more sustainable than ever before.
